Avoid filling fruit juices, smoothies, water from water dispensers or water from drinking fountains, dry goods, etc. in conventional bottles and cans based on petroleum plastic. In contrast to PET bottles or PET cans, NaKu bio bottles and bio cans are made from fast-growing plants and lactic acid. They therefore do not contain any harmful plasticizers such as bisphenol A, phthalates or antimony and are made of 100% bioplastic (PLA).
Our NaKu organic bottles and organic containers are ideal for use in hotels, restaurants, health resorts and health facilities. Use the NaKu organic bottle for water dispensers and drinking fountains or the organic container for petroleum- and plastic-free storage of food and spices in your kitchen.
As petroleum becomes increasingly scarce and expensive, natural, rapidly renewable resources offer an important source of raw materials. NaKu bio-bottles and bio-cans are also compostable according to DIN 13432 thanks to their natural raw material! Unlike PET, for example, when they decompose, they do not produce permanent, harmful microplastics. Furthermore, NaKu PLA/rPLA bottles and PLA/rPLA cans made from natural plastic are 7% lighter than conventional petroleum-based plastic! Therefore, in addition to all other environmentally friendly aspects, CO2 emissions are also saved during transport. Compared to glass bottles or cans, this weight advantage is even more significant, especially when used as a portable drinking bottle.
The NaKu bottle made from renewable raw materials is available in various standard sizes. Our smallest organic bottle with a capacity of 150 ml is ideal for shots, for example. For larger quantities, production with your individual bottle geometry and bottle size is also possible, as is coloring. Sleeving is possible even for smaller quantities. Find out more about the NaKu organic bottles here.
The NaKu bio-can is also available in different sizes. For larger quantities, the production of your individual can geometry is also possible, as is coloring. Sleeving is also possible for smaller quantities. Find out more about the NaKu bio-cans here.

Topic Health and PET Bottles
PET is currently a hotly debated topic1, especially in bottles. Recently, there have been many media reports about microplastics and nanoplastics in PET bottles. The infographic "Material Comparison: Pros and Cons" presents, among other things, a material comparison between rPET and rPLA (recycled PLA/recycled bioplastic).
If we stay on the topic of health: The new study by the University of Vienna also found that the PET bottle releases carcinogenic benzene into the oil over the storage period.
The researchers in this study tested the stored sunflower oil for benzene after 56 days and measured a concentration in the samples stored in PET bottles that is 140 times higher than permitted for drinking water. Recycled PET performed even worse. Benzene is a strong-smelling liquid that is contained in gasoline, for example. Even in small quantities, it poses a health risk because the substance is classified as carcinogenic. Learn more about this study and the topic “Are PET bottles a concern?” more here.

The advantages of carrier bags made from plant-based raw materials
moisture resistance
Unlike most paper bags, bioplastic carrier bags are moisture-resistant. Paper carrier bags are often also coated with conventional materials.
Food stays fresh longer
A study by BOKU shows that fruit, vegetables and bread stay fresh longer in NaKu bags. Thanks to this freshness-keeping function, less valuable food is thrown away.
GMO-free and free from pollutants and heavy metals
To produce the starch, we only use non-GMO corn from European agriculture. To protect health and the environment, we do not use any harmful additives such as bisphenol A, antimony or phthalates.
Fast-growing raw material
The starch used to make the organic bags comes from fast-growing corn, while paper is produced from slow-growing trees.
Compostable
The natural plastic is compostable according to DIN standard EN 13432 and is TÜV-certified. In industrial compost, the composting process of the bag takes about 3-5 days. In home compost, with regular circulation and warm weather, it takes 9-12 weeks until the bag is completely composted.
Price advantage over paper carrier bags and sacks
The NaKu organic carrier bags are significantly lighter than paper bags. This means we need significantly fewer raw materials in production. We pass this price advantage on to you.
energy consumption in production
The production of paper bags and carrier bags requires significantly more energy than the production of organic carrier bags made of bioplastic. Furthermore, the paper manufacturing process - with all its additives, bleaching and drying processes - requires an enormous amount of water.
The Sugar Card – the organic card made from plant-based raw materials especially for sustainable hotels & accommodation providers

Did you know that conventional hotel cards, access cards and employee cards, as well as bank cards and credit cards, are still made of PVC? PVC as a card material is particularly problematic from an environmental point of view. In Austria alone, 70 million cards are needed every year. One card weighs around 5 grams - so we are talking about 350.000 kg of PVC every year.
We have the alternative with the environmentally friendly hotel card or access card. For environmentally conscious hotels and accommodation providers, the biocard made of bioplastic, i.e. based on rapidly renewable plant-based raw materials, is the sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional PVC products.
The sugar card is made of sugar and starch. It already contains 15% recycled bioplastic. The production of the sugar card produces 40% less CO2 compared to PVC cards. This applies to the card itself without taking into account any built-in antennas or chips.
The map material is compostable according to DIN 13432. The compostability of the entire map depends on the built-in antenna technology and the printing inks used.
A project to recycle the card is underway. A minimum amount of around 1 tonne of material is required for recycling. With a card weight of 5 grams, that is around 240.000 cards. Other products made of bioplastic can also be recycled.
From the white blank card to the refined card – everything is possible! Of course also with barcode, chip and other functions.

Facts about biopolymer film
► Made from rapidly renewable, plant-based raw materials
► Free from harmful substances
► Industrially compostable according to DIN 13432
► No formation of persistent microplastics
► Easy to write on and print
► Water-resistant, dimensionally stable & tear-resistant
► Lower energy consumption than producing paper
► No sizing is required (necessary for conventional paper, otherwise it cannot be written on)
► Locally produced - made in Austria
Biopolymer film is ideal for applications where stronger paper or conventional films such as PVC need to be replaced in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way, and biodegradability and composting are important considerations. This also applies to applications where the product may intentionally or inadvertently enter the environment.
The biopolymer film is used where long- and medium-term use is required and/or where water resistance or humid environmental conditions play a role.
The biopolymer film is based on rapidly renewable plant raw materials (sugar & starch), whereas paper is made from slow-growing trees.
Conventional films (e.g., for plastic hangers, guest badges, luggage tags) are made from petroleum (PVC). This is neither environmentally friendly nor sustainable. If such film products enter the environment, they decompose and produce persistent microplastics that are hazardous to both animals and humans. These films are also usually contaminated with pollutants.
This film can also be used to make various products for hotels and restaurants. One example is door hangers for sustainable hotels. Do you have an application for which you can imagine our biopolymer film? Then we look forward to hearing from you!
