Packed in NaKu film based on corn starch: Chicken shoes

Not only good for cucumbers: NaKu film can also be used for chicken coops!

The NaKu film made of bioplastic is versatile for packaging

When you think of packaging film, fresh produce usually comes to mind—crisp carrots, juicy tomatoes, or perhaps a fragrant piece of bread. But NaKu film, made from bioplastics and starch from European agriculture, can do much more. It's not only compostable and sustainable, but also surprisingly versatile.

Probably the most unusual packaging project: chicken shoes!

Yes, you read that right. Chicken shoes. 🐔👟

Boots4Chicks has developed a very special product: small, medical-grade protective boots for chicken feet. These "boots" protect the delicate feet of these feathered ladies and gentlemen from infections, injuries, and everything else that might be lying around in the coop.

But why are the shoes individually wrapped? It's simple: hygiene comes first! To prevent germs or diseases from spreading from one stable to the next, each shoe is wrapped separately – in our NaKu film. This not only feels pleasantly soft but also provides reliable, environmentally friendly protection.

"Perhaps you've already wondered why our Boots4Chicks are packaged individually, not in pairs? It's simple: hygiene comes first! Our chicken boots are a medical product and come into direct contact with delicate chicken feet. To prevent communicable diseases from spreading from one coop to the next through returns, our boots are individually packaged – this protects your feathered friends! 🦠❌"

🌱 "And what about the environment? No problem! Our packaging material is 100% compostable – sustainable and safe at the same time! 🌍♻️"

From chicken shoes to oat flakes – NaKu film can do (almost) everything

Whether for food, delicate products, textiles, or even chicken coops – NaKu film is a true all-rounder. It protects, keeps food fresh, looks good, and feels pleasant. And best of all: It's made from rapidly renewable, plant-based raw materials, is compostable, and doesn't produce any permanent microplastics when it decomposes.

At NaKu, we're always excited about creative uses for our products—but the chicken shoes are definitely our funniest and most unusual packaging project yet.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about NaKu film made from bioplastics

What makes NaKu biopolymer film a better alternative to conventional plastic or paper packaging?

The NaKu biopolymer film is made from plant-based bioplastic (starch) and is industrially compostable according to DIN EN 13432. Unlike conventional plastic films, it does not produce permanent microplastics upon decomposition, and it is free of harmful substances and plasticizers. It offers key advantages over paper: It is water-resistant, tear-resistant, and dimensionally stable—ideal for humid or demanding environments, such as packaging chicken coops or food. It thus reliably protects products.

Is the NaKu biofilm also available in stronger versions – and what are they particularly suitable for?

Yes, NaKu biopolymer film is available in various thicknesses – from thin, flexible versions to robust versions up to 450 µm thick. These thicker films are particularly suitable for durable packaging, labels, banners, product cards, or even technical applications that require stability and moisture resistance. It also offers a sustainable and functional solution for creative projects or industrial applications where conventional PVC films need to be replaced.

How do consumers and brands benefit from using NaKu biopolymer film?

Consumers receive a product that is functional, durable, and environmentally friendly – whether as packaging, labels, or protective film. Brands, in turn, send a strong signal: With NaKu, they demonstrate their commitment to renewable materials. The film is printable, visually appealing, and supports brand communication. Especially in industries such as organic retail, dry cleaning, and event organization, this not only protects the environment but also strengthens customer trust.
