These renewable and compostable bags may also be used in Austria for distribution to customers in (food) retail outlets. The advantages of carrier bags based on plant-based raw materials
moisture resistance
Unlike most paper bags, bioplastic carrier bags are moisture-resistant. Paper carrier bags are often also coated.
Food stays fresh longer
A study by BOKU shows that fruit, vegetables and bread stay fresh longer in NaKu bags. Thanks to this freshness-keeping function, less valuable food is thrown away.
GMO-free and free from pollutants and heavy metals
To produce the starch, we only use non-GMO corn from European agriculture. To protect health and the environment, we do not use any harmful additives such as bisphenol A, antimony or phthalates.
Fast-growing raw material
The starch used to make the organic bags comes from fast-growing corn, while paper is produced from slow-growing trees.
Compostable
The natural plastic is compostable according to DIN standard EN 13432 and is TÜV-certified. In industrial compost, the composting process of the bag takes about 3-5 days. In home compost, with regular circulation and warm weather, it takes 9-12 weeks until the bag is completely composted.
energy consumption in production
The production of paper bags and carrier bags requires significantly more energy than the production of organic carrier bags made of bioplastic. Furthermore, the paper manufacturing process - with all its additives, bleaching and drying processes - requires an enormous amount of water.
Price advantage over paper carrier bags and sacks
The NaKu organic carrier bags are significantly lighter than paper bags. This means we need significantly fewer raw materials in production. We pass this price advantage on to you.

These environmentally friendly bags have been proven to keep food such as fruit, vegetables, bread and mushrooms fresh for longer. A study by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, shows that lettuce stays fresh for up to 1,5 weeks longer in a NaKu organic bag.

In your supermarket or grocery store, avoid filling fruit juices, smoothies, dry goods, etc. in conventional bottles and cans based on petroleum plastic. In contrast to PET bottles or PET cans, NaKu organic bottles and organic cans are made from plants and lactic acid. They therefore do not contain any harmful plasticizers such as bisphenol A, phthalates or antimony and are made of 100% bioplastic (PLA).
While oil is becoming increasingly scarce and expensive, natural, rapidly renewable resources offer an important source of raw materials.
NaKu bio-bottles and bio-cans are also compostable according to DIN 13432! Unlike PET, for example, no permanent, potentially harmful microplastics are produced during decomposition . In addition, NaKu PLA/rPLA bottles and PLA/rPLA cans made from natural plastic are 7% lighter than conventional petroleum-based plastic! Therefore, in addition to all the other environmentally friendly aspects, CO2 emissions are also saved during transport. Compared to glass bottles or cans, this weight advantage is even more significant.

Due to the natural raw material, NaKu bottles and cans are not suitable for hot filling and are not dishwasher safe. The maximum operating temperature is 55°C. In many cases, depending on the contents, wiping or warm washing is sufficient for reuse. If this is not possible, thermal recycling only releases as much CO2 as the plant absorbed or bound during its growth. This represents a further advantage compared to the thermal recycling of bottles or cans made from petroleum-based plastics.

Did you know that most conventional customer cards, bonus cards and employee cards are still made of PVC? PVC as a card material is particularly problematic from an environmental point of view.
We offer the environmentally friendly alternative with our sustainable customer card made of sugar (bioplastic). These cards are made from rapidly renewable plant-based raw materials and are an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional PVC cards.
Our sugar card is made from sugar and starch and already contains 15% recycled bioplastic. The production of the sugar card generates 40% less CO2 compared to PVC cards. This applies to the card itself, without taking into account any embedded antennas or chips.
The material of the sugar card is compostable according to DIN 13432. The compostability of the entire card depends on the built-in antenna technology and the printing inks used.
A project to recycle the card is underway. A minimum amount of around 1 tonne of material is required for recycling. With a card weight of 5 grams, that's around 240.000 cards. Other products made from bioplastics can also be recycled.
