About the SUSFERT project
The SUSFERT project is about sustainable, multifunctional fertilizers for supplying plants with phosphates and iron (SUSFERT).
To meet the ever-increasing demand for food and feed, agriculture is highly dependent on the use of non-renewable and resource-intensive fertilizers. The main component of fertilizers is phosphorus. Phosphorus is mined and considered a critical resource, 90% of which has to be imported into the EU.
In the course of the SUSFERT project, more sustainable, multifunctional fertilizers for the phosphorus and iron supply are being developed, which can be integrated into existing production processes and common agricultural practices in the EU.
SUSFERT investigates the effectiveness of fertilizers for the most important crops. The economic potential and sustainability of the developed and tested products are evaluated. SUSFERT ensures compliance with regulations and finally prepares the market launch.
About the 120% sustainable NaKu PLA/rPLA bottle and the SUSFERT project
The prototype organic fertilizers developed as part of the SUSFERT project will be filled into 120% sustainable 250 ml NaKu PLA/rPLA bottles for the project presentation. The 120% sustainable NaKu PLA/rPLA bottle consists of 100% plant-based raw materials/PLA plus 20% recycled PLA.
NaKu PLA bottles are made of natural plastic and are made from renewable (vegetable) raw materials (PLA - polylactic acid). They are guaranteed to be free of any plasticizers (phatalate, etc.). In addition, they are 7% lighter than conventional plastic and thus save CO during transport2. At the end of their product life cycle, the NaKu PLA bottles can be easily recycled or composted** and therefore do not pollute the environment with long-lasting plastic waste or microplastics.
