Avoid using conventional, petroleum-based plastic bottles for products such as fruit juices , smoothies , oils , dairy products , water , etc. Unlike PET or rPET bottles, NaKu bottles are made from plants and lactic acid. While petroleum is becoming increasingly scarce and expensive, natural, rapidly renewable resources offer an important source of raw materials for sustainable bottle production.
NaKu bio-bottles are also compostable according to DIN 13432! Unlike PET, for example, no permanent, potentially harmful microplastics are produced during decomposition . In addition, NaKu PLA/rPLA bottles made from natural plastic are 7% lighter than conventional petroleum-based plastic! Therefore, in addition to all the other environmentally friendly aspects, CO2 emissions are also saved during transport . Compared to glass bottles, this weight advantage is even more significant.
The NaKu bottle, made from renewable resources, is available in various standard sizes. For larger quantities, custom bottle shapes and colors are also possible. Sleeving is available even for smaller quantities. Learn more about NaKu bio-bottles here.
Due to the natural raw material, NaKu bottles are not suitable for hot filling and are not dishwasher safe. The maximum operating temperature is 55°C. In many cases, depending on the contents, wiping or warm washing is sufficient for reuse. If this is not possible, thermal recycling only releases as much CO2 as the plant absorbed or bound during its growth. This represents a further advantage compared to the thermal recycling of bottles made from petroleum-based plastics.

The publication of a new study from the USA on the topic of “microplastics and nanoplastics” has brought PET bottles into the focus of reporting.
Naixin Qian's team at Columbia University in New York obtained conventional 1-liter plastic water bottles from three different US supermarkets and examined them for nanoplastics. Each of these PET bottles contained around 3 plastic fragments.
Unlike PET bottles, we don't ingest permanent microplastics when drinking from bioplastic bottles, as these are made from PLA (simply put – based on lactic acid/sugar). They also don't contain plasticizers such as bisphenol A, phthalates, or antimony. Topic Pollutants – Benzene
The new study by the University of Vienna also found that the PET bottle releases carcinogenic benzene into the oil over the storage period.
The researchers in this study tested the stored sunflower oil for benzene after 56 days and measured a concentration in the samples stored in PET bottles that was 140 times higher than permitted for drinking water. Recycled PET performed even worse.
In comparison to the PET bottle, the NaKu bottle tested in this study is made of completely natural materials (sugar as the raw material), which is why no harmful substances can be released from the bottle.

The bottles are free of plasticizers such as bisphenol A and phthalates. They are made from plant-based raw materials, are compostable , and are also 7% lighter than conventional plastic, which leads to a reduction in CO2 emissions during transport.
