NaKu at the CREATE Symposium: Bio-based plastics on their way into practice
First CREATE Symposium at the SKZ in Würzburg
The first CREATE Symposium, entitled "Bio-based Plastics on the Path to Practical Application," will take place at the SKZ in Würzburg on November 10, 2025. The event brings together experts from industry, science, politics, and networks to actively shape the bio-based transformation of the plastics industry.
A special highlight: Johann Zimmermann, Managing Director of NaKu, will give a presentation in which he will highlight the challenges and opportunities of sustainable packaging solutions. The NaKu sugar bottle will also be presented as an innovative example of the use of bioplastics – a product that demonstrates how functionality and sustainability can be combined.
In addition to lectures and expert forums, the symposium features an accompanying exhibition where NaKu presents the diversity of its bioplastic products. Visitors can see firsthand the ecological alternatives to conventional plastic products – from bio-based carrier bags and packaging films to bio-based roll products for household use, and last but not least, the sugar card as an alternative to conventional PVC cards, and of course, the NaKu sugar bottle. Furthermore, specific product examples (loop labels, insert labels, and much more) based on the stronger biopolymer film will be presented.
The CREATE symposium is part of a project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) that focuses on integrating renewable raw materials into the value chains of the plastics industry. The aim is to identify obstacles, develop solutions, and make sustainable alternatives industrially viable.
NaKu looks forward to exchanging ideas with the participants and to jointly shaping new paths for a sustainable plastics future.
About CREATE – Network for a future-proof plastics industry
According to its own website: “To promote the sustainable use of renewable raw materials in the plastics sector, the SKZ Plastics Center, together with CARMEN eV, the Bavarian Chemical Cluster and the Bavarian Environmental Cluster, has been working on the development of the new innovation cluster for the plastics industry since February 2025. CREATE is funded by the “Industrial Bioeconomy” funding program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).”
